Unhappy Lost on how I should feel

I went on a vacation and had my step dad watch the birds. Well long story short he found my Parrotlet Rio laying at the bottom of the cage unresponsive. My mother told me on the last day of the vacation what had happened. I was devastated thinking it was possibly my fault some how. I cried but I'm home now and just feel empty. I had my step dad bury while I was still away because I didn't want to see her like that. Now I feel empty and can't bring myself to clean her cage to put away. I'm not sure how I should feel at this point...

Empty!
It is a very horrible feeling and so sad.
Please except my deepest sympathies.

Fly Free Rio. Over the Rainbow Bridge.

A tribute to my lost ones. RIP.

I am so sorry.
It is the worst cleaning it out and throwing out anything you can't reuse.
It is Cleansing for your soul as well though.
I screamed and cried the house down when I did Bob's.
But I felt better afterwards.
Maybe you can find another parrotlet?
Oz has certainly helped me feel better.
You.need to grieve to heal.

I'm so sorry about your little one, but I don't think I will get another parrotlet for quite sometime. I was thinking about going to my local animal shelter and seeing about maybe adopting another bird?? Or getting a Quaker as to them being so easy to come by in my area.

I don't mind but I don't really have an answer. We don't have the slightest idea as to what happened.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to do some bloodwork on your GCC just in case she bought anything in with her? Sadly many bird illnesses are very well hidden

Dear Ariel,
I'm so sorry about what happened to Rio, you must feel awful.
But please don't think you are guilty in any way. You were not there. You couldn't help Rio, it was not your fault.
Fly high, little Rio, and look at your sad and loving bird mom from the other side of the rainbow bridge.

Ariel, so sorry for your loss, RIP Rio and fly free under the Rainbow Bridge.

I feel with you and crying will help grieving and healing. I cried the house down too when I lost 2 of my goldfish in a very short period of time until I found out what the culprit was, I cried for a few weeks. But now I gave a loving home to another couple of fishies, not to replace Hepsiba and Matilda and Mo, they will never be forgotten, but I believe after a while some other sweet critter deserves to be loved as well.

It will take you a while until you can clean out the cage and the toys, maybe you cover it and put it away for a few weeks until you will be able to go to the shelter and love and care another feathery fluffball.

All my best wishes for you

CHEERS Hanna
