Can chop be frozen?

Is there any reason why chop can't be frozen?

To get a good variety I'll end up making way more than my birds can eat, so I'd like to freeze it.

Also, are dates bird safe? Anyone know?

Karen, when you say "chop" can you explain what you mean? Does this mean chopped up fresh veggies? Or is it something else?

As far as I know, dates are safe for birds. I think I'd chop them up, though, based on size of bird.

That's what I mean, a bunch of chopped up fruits and veggies along with whole grains.

Hi again Karen, Did you see this thread?
https://www.talkparrots.com/showthread.php?t=6016

In looking through these recipes, there appears to be some instructions or hints for freezing chop. Looks like if you cut up the raw fruits and veggies small enough, it should work.

I freeze mine in small 1/2 cup dishes... it lasts 2-3 days and when I use the last of one I put another in the fridge to be thawed by the next morning. I also add fresh chopped veggies and or sprouts... a drop or 2 of flax seed oil , chia seeds, sprouted seeds, kelp powder etc to the portion I am feeding today. I have been doing this for years with no problems.

I got a couple of cheap ice cube trays. Perfect sized portions for them. Freeze and pop out and put in freezer bags. Pull one out in the evening before bed. Thawed and ready when you get up! Finally found a good use fir the small food processor my mom had laying around her place! And my magic bullet setup is good too!
