Question red wheat berries safe for birds?

Hi all! Does anyone know if red wheat berries are okay to give birds? I just bought some organic red wheat berries on Amazon after my sister raved above how great they taste. I was wondering if they would be safe to feed my budgies and linnie. Which is better, cooked or sprouted or neither? Thanks!

And God said, "...let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky." And God saw that it was good.

Yes, perfectly safe. Wheat comes in several varieties, you have Spring and Winter wheat, you have Red, White, and Dark you have Hard and Soft, you also have something called Northern (I was a Logistics and Administration manager -we handled shipping documents and such- at a grain company). Hard Red wheat is one of the highest in protein (12.5% min) and Soft White is lower in protein and higher in carbs so I actually switch the kind of wheat I use for my gloop, using the HRW (Hard Red Winter) in the spring and summer (for breeding and molt) and the SWS (Soft White Sping) for the winter. I cook it until it's 'al dente'.
