What is the best diet for a conure?

My new conure "Pineapple" was fed "Ecotrition colour boost blend for Cockatiels" as her main diet, along with some fresh fruit and veggies. As far as I know though, it would be better to switch her to a pellet-based diet and use this seed mix as more of a treat. What do you guys think? Can anyone suggest specific brands? I'd love to hear what you feed YOUR conures

Here's the link to the food type, but this girl has the 'cockatiel' version:

Maxx is on Roudybush Pellets, the Crumble size, available 24/7. He gets a quarter of Birdy Bread Muffin in the morning. Some sort of fresh fruit, vegetable or dried fruit in the afternoon. Treats are Hemp seed or 1 of 4 different flavors of Nutri-berries.

His Birdy Bread Muffin is make from a box of Jiffy Bread Corn Muffin Mix, 1 egg, small container of unsweetened Apple Sauce, jar of baby food Sweet Potatoes, 1/2 cup of Cockatiel seed, handful of Hemp seed, small amount of millet, handful of frozen mixed veggies, fresh apple chopped fine, fresh fruit (raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, whatever is on sale), baked in muffin cups, and frozen.

Thanks Shanna! I will post pics as soon as I can.

Also, thanks for the detailed answer, Bob. I like the birdy bread idea definitely going to try that.

I feed my conures on Rob Harvey's Parrot Premium Plus seed and fruit mixture with a few different fruit and veg a day. They get the fruit and veg in the morning and then their mix at night. They absolutely love their food! They also get a bit of Vitakraft fruit cocktail with their mix and every now and then I feed red millet

Cricket gets roudy bush pellets, which he digs thru looking for seeds.I have tried all different forms of pellets given to him mixed with all kinds of different kinds of things trying get him to eat them. So I got some info from a vet that said a cereal mix that is really healthy with not much added sugar or salt can be added to his diet so i give him the healthiest Kashi mix i can find. He gets some seed mixed in to it and fresh fruit and veggies when available, frozen if not. I tried sprouts but he didn't like them. I dry various fruits and veggies when i know it is too much for him to finish, mostly fruits. He loves to eat the seeds off the outside of the dried strawberries and kiwi. He occationally gets some birdy bread. Jo Annes recipe is the one he likes best. I just try to vary it as much as possible and keep the seeds to a minimum. Good luck.

My birds have Roudybush pellets (the crumbles variety) available 24/7. They also get either (1) veggies, or (2) fruit, or (3) a cooked bean/pasta food I buy dry at my bird store, or (4) birdy bread. They also get some treat mix I buy at my bird store. It has dried fruit, veggies, some nuts and crunchy stuff. I also use the Goldenfeast brand of treats (there's lots of varieties sized for different birds) -- they all love these.

For treats they get a hemp seed, or a Nutraberry or a piece of Avicake, a little piece of wheat bread or cracker now and then. I also buy unsalted pretzel niblets from my bird store, but my Hahn's Macaw is the only one with a big enough beak-power to break and eat them!

As you can see, basically, my birds are on pellets and then a variety of other good stuff.

My birds get Zupreem fruity pellets 24/7 they also have a seed mix available to them , but none of them really like much in the seed mix and I have not found a good one I like yet. They get brekkie in the morning that consist of fresh veggie or fruit, cooked pastas and grains, corn niblets , and some times egg food. For treats they get a bit of almond, hemp seed, birdie bread, or nutri berries.

My green cheek eats TOP pellets, either size, Harrison's pellets, and Zupreem naturals. I vary the pellets because I don't want her to refuse to eat if for some reason I can't get a brand she is used to. She also eats fresh vegetables and fruits, and she LOVES sprouts. For treats she sporadically gets Volkaman soaks, Nutriberries, and various organic people foods. She is pretty easy to please.

Thanks Shivani for the awesome siggy!

After months of giving her sprouts almost daily, Joelle (quaker) finally ate them yesterday! This is the first time she's eaten anything other than Zupreem Natural pellets. She is the only bird I've ever had who took this long to try them. Eventually they will finally try them. Then, they will love them.

Thanks Shivani for the awesome siggy!

Thanks!

I think I'll try switching her to Roudybush crumbles, given that I can find a place to buy them from. I've heard good things about that brand. A local pet store sells Zupreem naturals, but from what I've been told, Roudybush is a bit better. I wonder if they'll order them in if I ask?

She's also been getting fresh fruits & veggies- spinach, carrot, apple, orange, and banana so far. I'm heading to the grocery store to pick up some different things.
