Online Parrot Food Suppliers

Hey all!

Just quit my job at the bird store (long story short, they have no idea what the #[email protected]%@ they're doing and are buying sick birds, selling unweaned birds, jacking up their prices by 30% if I have to wean the bird for them... I won't have my good name and reputation associated with that!) so I need somewhere to buy bird food! The only other store in my area is 45 minutes from my house and way too overpriced, so I'm looking into online shopping right now. I looked at Drs. Foster & Smith, but I really don't like their seed lines... I'm not a huge fan of Kaytee's seed mixes. I do use their Exact Rainbow Pellets, but I mix them with Sunburst Delite seed right now.

Long story short, anyone have any online vendors of seed mixes they recommend? I use Sunburst Delite and Goldenfeast right now, but am more than willing to try something new

I figure we can also use this as a resource/list for other people as well who are looking for an online supply site, so any online shop you can recommend (food, toys, supplies, etc) would be great to add! Thanks guys!

Thats too bad that they would do things like that I found these sites http://www.megabirdstore.com/ or mabey you can contact goldenfeast http://www.goldenfeast.net/ and ask them where the closest place to you is selling their food. Don't forget to add shiping, I would check and see if shipping and food is the best way to go or if the over priced store would be better, good luck

I don't know of any, but I just wanted to say I'm really sorry you had to quit - sounds like it was for the best.

Thanks, Solace. The hardest part was saying goodbye to all the birds and worrying about their continued care

Jenny I'm sorry to hear you had to quit. I know that the birds all lost their best caretaker when you left.
I don't live in the US but I've found dozens of online sites that sell bird food. Try googling pet bird food.

I'm consoling myself on the fact that my former manager and a few great customers are opening their own store soon, and they'll hire me right away it's just a waiting game at this point. All the bird dept employees from my previous store will be going there; there were only 3 of us: one got fired, I quit, and they just demoted my manager and threw her on minimum wage yesterday, so she's ready to leave too

That's alright - I know I can find sites that carry what I want, I was more concerned to see if anyone had ordered from some and that the quality was there, before I ordered. I'll see what I can find and I'll let you guys know if I find anything good!

So sorry to hear you quit. I don't blame you though. Good luck on the new pet store opening. I hope it doesn't take too long!

I have not ordered from them yet...but I have heard that www.parrotsontheporch.com is a good place. I have looked at it and will be placing an order soon from them. I have been looking for hemp seeds in the shell for a while now and was very pleased to see they have them. My parrotlet goes NUTS for them...lol.

Wow that's amazing how horrible they are being! So sorry to hear that Jenny. I may have only known you for awhile but it's very easy to see that you really love and care for all birds! I am glad you have another job coming.

Not sure where you can get food online but I am sure that almost all the companies you can get in store you can order from their website? So maybe keep the same food and get it straight from the company?

Sorry sorry about what happened! But you should be so proud of yourself to have stuck with your beliefs and values even if it meant leaving the company and job!

I know a lot of people order all their seed from http://www.mybirdstore.com/ and are very pleased.
I order my seed from http://www.hermanbros-seed.com/. They have great prices but you can't order on line you have to phone it in.

Oh dear, Jenny, so sorry you've had such a rough time. I understand your reluctance to continue working at a place that doesn't care for their employees or the birds they've been entrusted with. Hopefully the new store will pan out and you will be very happy there .
I buy all my bird food from Beaver Creek Aviary at www.foryourbird.com, they carry all the major brands and I am very happy with their service. Most of the food is in bulk, but it's very clean and well packaged, I've never had a problem with it, it's also very reasonably priced.
By the way, has anyone heard?.......Gourmet Pet Supply, makers of Beak Appetit, has gone out of buisness
