Pitted dates

Are pitted dates okay for a parrot? I was looking at dried fruit at the grocer and , except for the dates, they had either sugar or a sulfer added.

I don't like the dried fruits in parrot mixes; hard as a rock and Topper won't even attempt to eat. Doesn't care for the banana chips either.

We will soon have an organic store, Mom's Organic, so I hope to find more choices there. Topper has played with a grape and ate strawberry slices; hasn't tried the blackberries as yet. Loves carrot and dark, curly lettuce. And, I offered almond chips today. Just a bit.

Trying to wean him off the Caitec pellets...they crumble so badly. He is eating the Roudybush small pellets. Next time I need to buy the medium size.

A parrot rescue, here in Maryland, uses Roudybush and their birds look great. I am thinking of volunteering one day a week there. It is a 1 and 1/2 hour drive from my home. But, I think I would enjoy it and learn so much.

Well, didn't I ramble on and off topic?

So, dates okay?

Thanks, Sheila

I'm not entirely sure, I've heard that pitted fruits should always be avoided hopefully somebody will know!

As for the rescue, I would do it!
