home made seed mix

so i am am considering making my own seed mix because i can't find one that doesn't have tons of sunflower seed and none of them have fruit and nuts unless they are far to expensive for my budget.
so i was wondering what you guys would include in making your own?
thank you

That's a good idea!!
I crazy worry about everything, so id have to triple check everything is safe/edible

Are you willing to buy some homemade mixes online? My safe bird store has some mixes that I've always wanted to buy, but never had the chance

Hi!
I think one of the first problems I see with making up your own is.
Buying small amounts of each product adds expense.
IE The smaller the package the higher the cost per Kg. And you may end up having a lot of products laying around for a long time trying to use it up.
If the seed mix you are buying is a good fresh mix I would stay with it.
You can always filter out some of the Sunflower seeds. These you could then try to sprout (again this will only work if they are fresh seeds) and then feed them.
You could always add your own fruit and veg, and as this is wet food as such should not be left mixed in with the seed for any length of time, as it will spoil.

I am very lucky that I have a wholesale supply close to me. So get to see what the difference can be in prices around town.
When I buy things to add to their diet I shop at health shops and boy do they know how to charge for small amounts.

I keep on hand
Hulled oats
Wheat seed
Barley seed
Safflower seed
Flax seed
Pumpkin seed
Corn
Millet Sprays regular and Red

For the nuggets
I have on hand nuts
Dried fruit
Dates
Coconut shredded
Oats
Black eyed peas
And a few others I cannot think of right now
To this
Bean sprouts
And any minerals and vitamins if I am trying to boost anything.
I add egg and crushed egg shell mix it all up and make small balls and bake at a low temp About 120 is good just to dry them out then freeze them.

A tribute to my lost ones. RIP.

I found this helpful link:

Though I don't recommend mixing in pellets with seed.. because then the pellets are wasted.

I cant make my own because buying all the food to make it adds up to be more expenive than just buying a bag of seed. I use kaytee forti diet for small parrots nd juat take out all but few sunflower seeds and then just use the seeds as a treat every now and then

I tried removing the most of the sunflower seeds from my mix, but it was a 25 pound bag and it had so many sunflower seeds in it. I had to use a strainer and it took forever. The squirrels were happyb to have them though.
