This voluntary recall is being initiated because two lots may contain calcium levels higher than the recommended level.
The voluntary recall is limited only to 11/30/13 and 11/13 expiration dates.
Consumers are advised to review the backside of packaging for the “Use By” or “Best By” (expiration date) to determine if the product has been affected by this voluntary recall. Products and product lots that do not appear on the list are not subject to this voluntary recall.

This voluntary recall has been activated due to elevated calcium levels. The calcium was inadvertently introduced into these lot codes during the manufacturing process.
“Premium Nutritional Products is a family company that prides itself on over 40 years of safety, tradition and excellence in the pet-nutrition industry,” said David Morris, President. “On behalf of ZuPreem, we apologize for any inconvenience this recall has caused bird owners and their birds. We are working with our industry partners to resolve all related issues as quickly as possible.”
Customers who purchased these products should review the ““Use By” or “Best By” (expiration date) to see if they fall within the voluntarily recalled product expiration dates and Lot Codes. If your product falls within these expiration dates and Lot Codes discontinue feeding this product. Return the product to your retail location where the product was purchased for reimbursement or replacement.
Additionally, consumers may contact the ZuPreem Customer Service line at 1-800-345-4767 where company representatives are responding to inquiries regarding any issues relevant to this voluntary recall. Pet owners also may visit the ZuPreem website – www.zupreem.com/fruitblendvoluntaryrecall – for more information."

I know it seems to be getting more frequent, makes me wonder if companies never bothered before. The only pellets I buy are the Harrisons Power Treats for Rocky as he is used to getting them as a treat and they contain palm fruit extract in them.

I hate pellets though lol, if I could find a way to make those power treats myself I would so I know exactly what is in it.

Here is someones comment on another forum posted yesterday

Grrrr< i sent them an Email not long ago about the problem with theyre "fruit blend" and how it stunk and had bugs in it, and they responded quite non chalanlty about it. Im glad actually, that theyre having problems, coz they need more complaints. Maybe now, they will pay attention.

So I am going to guess it is not about to much calcium.

A tribute to my lost ones. RIP.

Theres probably something big wrong with it but they don't want people to stop buying it so pass it off as calcium problems which for a short period of time for most birds won't be that harmful.

I know a lot of people on forums have complained about the smell.

It is only the fruitblend pellets effected...not the natural or avian entrees.
