Picky Parrot

Daisy, my goffins cockatoo, is currently fed a diet consisting of Roudybush
pellets, those rainbow pellet things, and a seed mix. She is also fed fresh
foods every day. I added in the Roudybush, but the previous owner had a
TON of rainbow pellets and seed mix which she gave to me. I thought I would
keep feeding Daisy the same diet until she got comfortable here, but I think
it's past due when I should have changed her diet up a bit. I think I'm going
to use up what's left of the rainbow pellets and seed mix, and then switch her
to mainly just Roudybush pellets and Harrison's pellets, along with the fresh
foods everyday.

For now, however, I see she is totally avoiding the Roudybush and rainbow
pellets. I would like her to eat those instead of just digging around to find the
seed. Should I stop putting seed in her food dish and just put in the rainbow
pellets and Roudybush? Will she eat it then?

Why dont you try feeding her the roudybush with the rainbow pellets (NO SEED) until she is eating pellets and fresh food. try to find out what her fav veggies and fruits are. If she wont eat them cold try warming them up. When she is totally comfortable with this, then as a treat x2 times a week, incorporate a bit of seeds in her fresh food, not her pellets. It might take a bit, but she will come around. Thats the way I did it with Elvis. When I brought him home he was a seed junkie.. The reason I advise not adding seed to pellets is because you want to offer them 24-7. Hope this helped..she is soooooo cute!

Don't put seeds and pellets in the same bowl, fact. They won't touch them

Yup, Daisy is correct. However, as I was trying to get him weened from the seeds and on to fresh food, I did mix in a tiny bit of the seeds he was use to having and gradually stopped the seeds when he starting liking the fresh food. And bingo!! it worked. He never really had a problem eating his pellets, he is a good eater now. I feed him Zupreem fruity and natural. But he will eat Roudy bush too.

Today is the first day I'm not mixing seeds in with Daisy's food. She doesn't seem too
happy. Just keeps digging through her dish, hopeful to find seed. I see her eating a little
bit, but not much.

I honestly would never mix pellets in with seed because you end up chucking a bowl of pellets and husks away. Try giving her a little bit of seed every day but the main bulk can be pellets and fresh foods what seed mix is she on?

Daisy - I'm not sure. It's the seed mix that came with her when I got her from her
previous owner, and it was already in a tub. So I don't know what kind it is. If I were
to buy some in the future, which kind/brand/whatever would be best to get?

Have a look at the Higgin's mixes over here I use Rob Harvey's Parrot Premium Plus and versele laga species specific mixes. I'm just starting to use tropican tropimix too. Oh and nutriberries!
