Dried Fruit

I'm most likely placing an order at Nuts.com for pine nuts (as my Daisy
LOVES them) and I thought, while I'm there, I might as well order some
other things. Which of these dried fruits are appropriate for Daisy? Are
all of them? Or are there certain ones I should not feed?

I would read the ingredients and try to get ones with no sulphur, preservatives or sugars added. I love nuts.com...lol

Awesome site so far. Have not yet ordered from them as I've just been using the nuts
given to me by Daisy's last owner. What other nuts would be good for Daisy, as she is
a cockatoo?

Well I'll be looking forward to their delivery, then!
Anyone else know about the dried fruit or nuts?

EDIT: Also, I was looking at dried bananas, would I get the sweetened,
unsweetened, or organic?

You could get her some pine nuts and some almonds? My birds get both of those and they seem to enjoy them I'd also only go for the organic stuff, that way you know everything will be safe I would look into the goji berries too. I have been giving my birds them and they absolutely love them! Have you looked into Avian Organics? I don't think they ship over here but they have some really, really good looking snacks and foods... http://avianorganics.com/

I would go with organic if you can afford it, if not unsweetened. You want to avoid anything with added sugars, sulfur, or dyes. The closer to all natural the better Really, I would just order maybe a mix of nuts and fruits the first time to see what she favors and likes, then buy bigger bags of just those things

The only thing I've heard to be careful feeding is papaya - it can cause constipation, but my vet said that's mostly in macaws. Goober was straining to poop and had these really bulky poops and after a bunch of testing, the vet asked if she ate a lot of papaya - of course her favorite thing in her seed mix. And that was the problem! lol

Thanks, Daisy and Jenny!

Daisy - I will check out that site. I plan to make a big food order for my Daisy when I
get my next paycheck, and I've been looking for different snacks and food items I
can purchase for her.

Jenny - Wow! Goober was constipated! Sounds like a real unnecessary problem.
Glad you figured it out.
