Not quite tame???

Hey everyone, so as I had posted in a previous thread, I have adopted a half English half American budgie. I was told he was super super tame. He does step up but he still seems petrified of me. I pretty much just take him out of his cage and let him sit on my shoulder while talking to him. I'm not quite sure what else to do. I've tried the millet and nothing, he wants nothing to do with it. He also never ever plays with his toys?? The only chirping his does is this really frantic sounding chirp. It's fast and loud. Lol. Sorry I'm not better at explaining it, haha. But ya I guess all in all I could just use some tips on how to Make him feel more at home!

If you must steal, steal away from bad company. If you must cheat, cheat death. And if you must drink, drink in the moments that take your breath away.

When did you get him? Birds can take quite a while to settle in to their new homes, you shouldn't force him to interact with you until he's ready.

But don't you think if I leave him for too long he'll loose any tameness he did have? That's what I'm worried about.

I think the best thing to do would be to give him some space. Perhaps let him out of his cage and leave him there so he can come to you on his own terms. Birds DO take a long time to settle in some circumstances so don't be too put off

If you want to make him happy, get him a companion. Nothing makes budgies happier than having a mate.
