Orange Winged Amazon likes fingers in her mouth

My Orange Winged Amazon like to keep my fingers in her mouth. She has never bitten me but if she can reach my fingers she will keep pulling at them until I let her lick/rub/nibble my nails. Is this normal? What else can it mean? (I'm a newbie to birds)

My 3 month old Indian ringneck has a thing for my toenails too . I guess as long as it doesn't hurt or draw blood , it should be fine .

My green cheek conure does this a lot. He either seeks out my fingers to pick at when I'm on the computer, or full on launches a mission to get to my hands whatever it takes if they aren't so easily accessible. I have an anxiety-based habit of biting my nails so I personally have to take note when I end up picking at them, to keep him away as much as possible from saliva/germ encounters. I end up washing my hands a lot to be safe. Otherwise, its a pretty similar situation to what you describe. He will physically grab my fingers or parts of my hand and pull it towards him so he can 'nom' on it in a sense, no biting, just light nibbling/licking/chewing basically.

So you're not alone. Birds can have quirky habits that most others of the same breed just won't show as much, its one of the best things about owning them. You never quite know what personality traits they're going to pop up with next. I would absolutely love to see picture of your bird though (:

My GCC likes to lightly chew on the skin between my thumb and finger... It does not hurt, it feels like she is sucking on it...lol not sure how she can suck with no lips! Other times she will just very gently hold a pinch of that same area in her beak, seems to get some sort of comfort or enjoyment out of it so as long as she is gentle I allow it.

She's either testing you or if she's a baby, well, she's being a baby!

Here is my Abigail. Previous owner told me she was about 2 or 3 years old. Such a sweet heart!

Oh I'm sorry I just realized who you were! They were selling her as a blue front right? I'm sure that's where I recognize her in that picture from when you first came on

Yes you are correct. I'm having issues getting a new pic of her to load on here. Though it was taken with the same camera and no edit were done to the photo it will keep telling me my image is too large when I try to post a new one. And I haven't had time to edit any new ones.
