My green cheek conure does this a lot. He either seeks out my fingers to pick at when I'm on the computer, or full on launches a mission to get to my hands whatever it takes if they aren't so easily accessible. I have an anxiety-based habit of biting my nails so I personally have to take note when I end up picking at them, to keep him away as much as possible from saliva/germ encounters. I end up washing my hands a lot to be safe. Otherwise, its a pretty similar situation to what you describe. He will physically grab my fingers or parts of my hand and pull it towards him so he can 'nom' on it in a sense, no biting, just light nibbling/licking/chewing basically.
So you're not alone. Birds can have quirky habits that most others of the same breed just won't show as much, its one of the best things about owning them. You never quite know what personality traits they're going to pop up with next. I would absolutely love to see picture of your bird though (:
