Training Gemma & she got a flight suit

Been working with Gemma on her territorial biting. So far we have only had three short sessions and she is doing much better. I also got her a flight suit because of all my birds, she is the bravest and I think she'd really enjoy going outside. She isn't scared of anything. So far we have had two sessions training with the flight suit, letting her play with it, putting treat in it, and kissing it and petting it lol. I have also been hanging it outside her cage for a day so far. She is very hands on and cuddly, so I have been building on more touching to allow for that when I attempt to put this on. I plan on trying putting it on in the early morning when she is hungry, (taking the food out the night before and then first thing) so that I can give her her food right away as a reward. So far so good. I love her to death!

I'm surprised you found one small enough! Just saying because I have seen people talk about budgie flight suits and everything seems to be too big for them. I hope she enjoys it, how fun for her!

Well it is the smallest size (parrotlets are recommended for this size) and she is not a small parrotlet so I am hoping.

She flies extremely well. When she first came home she was flighted and almost killed herself about three times in the first day. I clipped a few flight feathers and was amazed at how well she could still fly--but in a much safer way like straight across versus up. Anyway, she can fly about 20 feet and straight too me and land right on my shoulder. I take her in the shower too and she actually is so good at flying and balance, that she flew onto my wet shoulder and landed perfectly!

We went outside today. Not easy to put on but overall Gemma was a champ. Believe it or not, she wasn't really biting...just trying to figure out what was going on I think. And, she still love me afterwards!

Our third walk outside. Karin was right, it did get easier to put it on.
