Tiki's Home (IRN)

Tiki cam e home last Friday- I wont bore you with the nightmare flight details- lets just says all's well that ends well and Tiki acted as if nothing was wrong, after what was suppose to be 6 hours in the carrier turned into 12+ we took him and put his carrier down on the floor of our home and waited for him to come out not knowing how he would react at 1:30AM- he came out I handed him some food- he took it and started eating while he sat on my leg! As content as could be and he has pretty much been that way ever since. He is so content that he sits on one leg most of the time- I took him to the vet for his well birdy check up and that was one of the questions I had as I was concerned he might be ill, we did a gram stain on droppings and nasal just in case , he does not favor one leg or the other- he simply is a mellow bird. He even sat on one lg ,alternating in the vet. The vet was pretty amazed as well. We know that vet pretty well he got us through the whole Jose ordeal and he has birds of his own so Tikis personality is simply " Mellow" .. except when it comes to my nail polish, in the past few days he has become obsessed with it. I did not change colors or anything as a mater of fact my daughter wears a darker color than mine and he ants to bite her s too.. any suggestions? We are not giving it up so he needs to learn not to bite our fingers... Neither of us has made a loud squeal or reacted in anyway when he bites us simple made a fist so he cannot get to out nails or distracted him in another way- sometimes he gets put down as he has broken the skin, but we know enough not to give him any theatrics at all so as not to encourage his behavior.

Welcome home Tiki. Most birds do not like nail polish. Even birds that know their owners can get mad at nail polish. I would just continue what you're doing.

Completely agree with wyrinth, my linnie tries to bite my nails and she complains at them whenever I paint them. I think if I kept them painted all of the time, theyd get used to it.
