If I had to describe the one biggest difference between our parrotlet and our linnie, I would say it is their reaction to fingers. Elisa, the linnie, is scared of fingers. This is really common among linnies. Elisa is actually braver than many linnies. She will step up onto hands without hesitation. She doesn't usually like to be stroked or petted in any way. She will take any opportunity to climb off my hands and onto my shoulder or shirt. Many linnie owners don't even offer their hands to their birds. They let them step on their arms or shoulders, instead.
Doug, the parrotlet, LOVES hands and fingers. It is almost impossible to persuade him to transfer from my hands to my shirt or my shoulder. Unfortunately, he has decided that my bare feet are just as good as hands.
If he is on the playstand and wants to come to me, he will fly over and land on my bare feet if he possibly can. It tickles soooooooooo much.
I 'm terrified I am going to hurt him.
I suppose socks might be the answer.
Do any of your birds have strange fettishes?
