Need help decoding strange behaviour in my Alex

I have an Alex named buddy who is 14 months old. I also have a Sunconure , Ollie, who is almost 2. They hang out together all day, they have since they were babies and go into their cages for the night.

For the last 2 days Buddy has been catching Ollie by the tail and grooming and scratching his head. Usually they just hang out side by side and share the occasional treat. But now poor Ollie is running around and buddy is chasing him to catch him and scratch him.

I don't know the sex of either bird.
What is this behaviour? And what do I do ?

At 14 months it is more than likely Buddy is becoming sexually mature. In other words he is going through puberty. And yes I said he, it is more than likely that Buddy is a male. At his next moult you may notice his ring starting to develop. There is not much you can do when they are going through this stage, but you may have to keep Buddy and Ollie separate until he settles down. This usually takes a few months. He will settle down but at the moment he has an absolute rage of hormones, he may even become a little aggressive with you. My first Alex I didn't handle at all for nearly six months while he was going through puberty, once it was over he was his loving self again and even at 10 years of age in a breeding aviary with a mate he was a sweet loving little boy that I could do anything with.

Hope that helps.
