foot obsessed

so munch spends a good chunk of her day picking at her feet. no sores, nothing. just cleaning the dried skin off her feet. ive rubbed aloe on it, ive kept an eye out, everything seems fine. i just think she likes to groom feet obsessively. what would drive a parrot to be obsessi ve compulsive over grooming their feet? she spends a half hour at a time doing it, clinging to the side of the cage and chewing the dry skin off her feet. and i know its not an irritation. she grooms mangos feet like that too!! she is just obsessed over it. she will sit there for a long time and several times a day, just nibbling her feet from her claws to her feathered ankles.... anyone got a clue?

doesnt seem to be a health concern. just a behavioural issue. i just wonder what could possibly make a bird obsessively groom their feet??

When I had my lovebirds the female was also totaly foot obsessed, she never seemed to have any problems with her feet, just liked to "groom" them a lot. Hootie likes to pick the dry skin off his feet and sometimes does it a fair bit. Someone I know has an amazon who chews her nails and keeps them nice and short, they never have to trim them.

I think that because parrots are so smart they are prone to developing obsesive compulsive behavior just like people. Right now Hootie is plucking like crazy, yesterday the bottom of his cage was covered in feathers It started because we fosteres the cat, different stuff sets him off, plus he is very hormonal at the moment which is making it worse.
