HELP please!!

I have a red headed Mexican parrot which has always whistled or mumbled to get my attention but has recently begun squawking extremely loudly when I leave the room. It has gotten very bad in the past couple weeks and I can not figure out why. The sound is deafening. I am not sure how old he is but I have had him for 4 years now and this behavior is unacceptable but I don't know how to stop it. It has become a daily thing and even continues if I cover the cage. Any ideas to curb this behavior would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

I am sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Amazon. Has anything changed at all in his environment or routine to have potentially caused it?

The best thing to do as a first step would be to figure out what is actually causing the screaming and then you can work on how to stop it. If it's something environmental or anything to do with his routine you could fix it quite easily. If he has a health issue, however, you'll want to get that looked in to

Has anything changed at all? Are you spending less time with him? Has he got enough enrichment? Is he hungry? All things you can consider first

I know how bad an angry Amazon can be. It is very piercing!
