head movements

When a new person comes into our bird room, our caique (Sir Calahad) moves his head side to side for 5-10 seconds. Any idea why?

I can't give the definitive answer, but perhaps Sir Calahad is both excited with the arrival of the new person, and an indication that he is surveying this new person wholly with his side-to-side head movement. I think it is sweet that he demonstrates this reaction, Skip. Does he make any vocalizations with his head movements, as well?
