Little Lucy update.

I have not given up on Lucy in any way and I have always been willing to continue to work with her and accept her at what ever level of tameness/friendliness she achieves. I chose Lucy because her breeder said she was shy and timid and I have a soft spot for the shy ones. We have been in communication because I was looking for help with Lucy and she would like Lucy back. She said that she never had one that was nearly this shy/timid before and she feels that Lucy would be happier back with her.

She would let me have another baby and I can even take over the hand feeding. Right now she has a lutino and a creamino available out of a clutch of 4. The blue and albino are sold. Or I can wait for a baby in the future. Her pallid pair are on eggs right now.

The thing is that I feel guilty because Iím sure I would be happier as well, so I feel like I would be letting Lucy down.

I think you should do what you feel is best if it makes you both happier then you should go for it. Most IRN are pretty timid, so it's not unusual. But perhaps she would be happier as a breeder bird? Good luck with your decision

Its a tough one.
Bob was very timid to start with.
Much coaxing and finding of favourite food helped.
Irn go through bluffing and quite often reject the person who hand feeds them.
My friend breeds hers, it might be something to think about before getting a new baby.
Kim it is a hard decision.
Whatever Irn you get it will need daily interaction.
Sometimes a firm hand.
I think you will make the right choice.

I have heard without daily interaction they will turn. With mine Az was handfed, and handled everyday from the time he was a baby. He is wonderful, outgoing friendly, happy boy. he hit a stage where he got very nippy, and would try to bluff you but we worked throught that, and now he is an angel.
Athena our hen came from a really bad situation never handled for the 12ys of her life. She is VERY timid and I don't think will ever come out of her shell but she is happy to have az to hangout with, they r partners in crime always getting into trouble.
Would you keep Lucy? It sounds like you are going too. It may make her happy to have a friend, like it did with Athena. It also may make her come out of her shell more if she sees the new baby doing things wit you she may want to then too. It is soley your choice, and hard one at that. Good luck and just go with your instincts

No. Either I keep Lucy or I trade for a baby.

Little Lucy’s breeder lives about 4 hr’s away but is going to be at an exotic animal expo about 45 min from me on 2/25. So I’ve taken the day off work and Lucy and I are going. I’ll meet the creamino baby and make my decision based on how it goes.

Another picture of the baby creamino IRN. As you can see she's not very good at taking pics!!
