Oliver is proving he is pretty smart!

So I built two training/play perches for Oliver out of PVC pipe. After he was used to them I decided to try target training him. He did pretty good. After only five 5-10 min. sessions on training him in the perch, I tried it in his cage and he did it all around the cage! I was so impressed! I used a chopstick and a clicker, that's all.

I have read that younger parrots don't have a sense of treats. And you have to "teach" them what treats are, but Oliver didn't seem to have any problems with that because he LOVES walnuts and almonds. I think he is a smart bird.

Plus 2 guinea pigs and a lot of chickens

That's fantastic! You should teach him all sorts of tricks, sounds like he'd do very well!

Oliver sounds great! I love it when training pays off and especially when it's picked up so quickly. It makes me feel successful along with the bird.
