Conures

I am really happy as Russell has finally outgrown his nippy stage . When he first reached maturity he got very nippy if I was doing something he didn't like(putting him back) but for the last several months he's calmed back down into the calm loving bird he was. As a bonus he no longer chews my lip which he was obsessive about as a youngster(it didn't hurt but it was annoying). I think I owe a lot of this to Blue, since him and Blue became best buds he's settled down from that high strung personality. Blue is never caged because he doesn't chew and behaves in the bird room so he spends a lot of time sitting by Russ's cage.

He's my favorite bird, he knows so many tricks and has such a funny personality. I found it hard to keep up with him as a youngster because he was a highly highly energetic sunny but its nice that we can just hang out now. Love my Russ Bear <3

So I was wondering how everyone else's conures are going now that they're mature

Lol, good to know what to look forward to.
My little one is still a baby. Has the same obsessive lip chewing habit and just wants cuddles and scritches. When should I expect the teenage years to start and nippiness to show itself. Sparkle will not bite me ow no matter what I do to her.

I found it started around one and a half and went to about 2 and a half. Lol Im glad he doesnt lip chew anymore. I found a good way to stop it, I taught him to give kisses and he makes a kissy noise. Now hell just give me like 10 kisses its so cute. Russ was like that too, I could do ANYTHING including putting on his harness. It wasn't too bad though I just got a couple good nips throughout the whole of it(most were pinches)

I'm trying to get her to give kisses too instead of trying to preen my lips
I sure hope she misses the nippy phase all together.

Green cheeks mature far faster than sunnies. Dexter and Pickles have hit maturity now, their personalities haven't changed much. Dexter is still a nervous bird and Pickles is just the same. The only difference is that they won't stop mating!
