as long as the wood is untreated and of a bird safe kind, wood is excellent for birds to chew. is he chewing it or eating it? of actually EATING it, then its not safe, but if he is just chewing its good. you can tell he is chewing if there is a pile of wood pieces at the bottom of the cage.

does he have any wood toys to chew?

He definitely shouldn't be eating the wood. I'd be pretty concerned if he is ingesting large amounts of the stuff but he's probably just shredding it (I hope). Give him plenty of wooden toys, or some safe natural branches

My toos can destroy 2x4's in a matter of minutes. Reggie loves wood. He shreds it down to nothing. So I go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy untreated pine 2x4's or whatever other size I want and cut them up with our saw then make different toys out of them. You can even dye them if you want. It is alot cheaper then buying toys all the time.
