Leaps and bounds with taming

I hope this is the right place to post this. Couple of days ago I got untamed Maroon bellied conures, well as of today the female will now step up 3 out of 5 times. Today she actually hopped out of the cage, waited at my feet till I said step up. Slight problem as well they won't take food from me, the female will lick the food but one eat it.

As long as they're happy to step up I don't see why the need to take food from you. If they're happy to do that for now then carry on a lot of my birds won't take food from my self
