Daisy has it spot on. I would assume that's based on the fact that the smaller birds are more abundant, shops take poorer care of them, and they tend to be mass-bred, not bred for health. Just walk into a PetSmart or PetCo, and look at their keets. At least the one here in Yuma, you can see symptoms of upper respiratory conditions in one, or all, of them at any time. Any bird can carry a disease or illness that could harm your existing flock, no matter where you get it from. Quarantine is always a must
