Kate (Cathy Cummings) Talk Parrots Moderator Memorial

I'm sad to tell the members from Talk Parrots that our friend and moderator Kate - Cathy Cummings has passed away from a battle with cancer on January 20th 2018. Kate was 67 years young and lived in Binalong New South Wales.

Kate loved all animals and of course birds she loved to cook and garden growing her own fresh vegetables and fruits for her birds and herself. She loved to collect all sorts of colorful unique tea pots and bargains from thrift stores in her spare time to furnish her home where she lived with her dog and her birds.

Kate housed her birds in large outdoor kennels in the beautiful countryside of NSW, her birds had the latest automatic water systems and the very best of foods seeds and diets while she cared for them in every way possible.

Back in early December Kate and I spoke about the little town she lived in and the many friends she knew there who all shared birthdays the same week leading up to her birthday. It was their tradition to all get together for an entire week and have dinners and drinks and listen to music in a pub and share story's of their lives while celebrating each birthday day after day.

She told me the weather was beautiful and warm and at night she would be listening to her friends while relaxing outside and at the same time she could hear and identify a few different wild lorikeets and other wild parrots or cockatoos in nests in the trees surrounding the pub. She said the chicks would be calling their parent birds for food and it would make her smile as she knew all these sounds so well from her own birds.

I loved that she had such a gentle caring soul, she helped anyone and everyone and when she became ill all her friends and people she didn't know well in the small town where she lived were there to help her. They fed and cared for her birds and dog and took care of things for her at her home while she had treatment and hoped to recover from this terrible illness.

I know I will miss her, I know the people in her little town already miss her. I know many people here on Talk Parrots and Talk Budgies will miss her as she was also a mod and member at Talk Buds.

Rest in Peace dear Kate. My heart goes to your family and friends and I hope they all find comfort knowing that you shared so much about them and yourself here with me and others on this site. You were and are loved by many.

We will miss you very much.

Very Nice Memorial Tribute to Kate. I have been friends with Kate for just over 7 year's. I joined onto talk budgies in 2012 and we got to no each other over the year's. When kate moved to Binalong Kate got Skype on and sometimes we would talk twice a day we would talk about birds Indi etc. Kate made me laugh when she made a joke.. In September when i got hit by the mini Tornado i had kate on Skype and i had just finished talking to my mum who was having a holiday in Sydney with her Sister anyway This wind came up and i started freaking out and Kate said to me Lyn it is just only wind you no. And i said Kate it is more than just wind then the next day kate said sorry Lyn you had a mini tornado hit you and then i nearly had water in my house. I was really scared and Kate calmed me down.. Kate is a true friend loyal and genuine person who would take the time to help anyone who needs it.. I am so sad right now i miss talking to Kate on Skype. We had so many nice talks on Skype i rang her on Christmas day and Kate was not very well I comforted her and we talked for ages then i couldn't get her so i rang her on New Year's day and spoke to Kate on the phone but Kate still was not very well the next day she went to hospital I wish i had of got to say goodbye to her again but in a way i did say goodbye on the last day i spoke to her on the phone.. I am going to Sydney in June and i have been speaking to Kates friend in Binalong on the phone and we are going to meet up at the Blue Mountains and Kates friend is taking me back to Binalong to see where Kate is layed to rest and now i can say good bye to her and see where she lived now ill see how happy she was... I am so excited can't wait to see where she lived.

Farewell dear Kate rest in peace you are free of pain and you are on another journey looking after all of the birds in heaven. I will never forget you. We were going to meet in June and i no you tried to hang on to take me around everywhere and see the snow i no you were so looking forward to me coming and staying for a week but it wasn't meant to be.. I see you shinning up on the evening Star where my dad is. Be Happy dear Kate we love you.. Goodbye.

Thank you. You would of liked Kate she is so nice and makes everyone laugh. She would help anyone who needs advice on birds. Kate was well known on the parrot form and made a lot of friends. I will miss her so much.

I cannot believe I missed this. Kate was an amazing and kind-hearted lady who always made time for me. She had even invited me to visit whenever I could find the time to fly out. I'm so gutted I will never have the chance now. Even though we only ever spoke online I still feel very honored and privileged to have known her. Rest in paradise Kate
