Looks great so far! Goober LOVES the Veggie Crisps! I mix that with their Caribbean harvest so she gets some fruit goodies as well, dried papaya is her favorite. Just curious, why are you getting the Harrison's and Roudybush? Do you want her on a mix of both, or is she on one now and you want to convert her over?

Birds I've had in the past also like the veggie crisps. I think they smell good haha. And I'm getting Roudybush AND Harrison's because I'm fond of both brands, and I would like my Ava to be on both. This is also in case of a recall.

Try TOPs pellets too, if you ever get the chance. My birds took to them a lot faster than they did with Harrison's because they're considerably softer! Anything new to add ?

Good thinking, Abby. Just making sure - you know after converting to Harrison's, you should switch to the maintenance blend, yea? High potency is for weaning babies, converting, and breeding

Good stuff! We are getting the same stand.

I would probably choose MSBS Bountiful Harvest over the veggie crisp and true fruits honestly -- it has fruits, veggies, nuts, pasta, pellets and more! And it's very economical to buy by the pound.

Regarding the Tarzan rope...not sure if they're all this way, but the U2 I fostered could demolish a rope perch in hours. Anything vaguely fabric-like would be targeted and destroyed! I would look for lots of wood toys.

Thank you for your post! I probably won't get the tarzan rope then.
And Jenny - my vet had my birds on high potency and never had me change a long time ago. Why is this?

How long were they on high potency for? It's usually 6 months they're on them after weaning etc.

Every vet has a different idea and different methods. The only reason I would follow it more strictly is we had the advantage of living where Harrison's started and working with Dr Harrison, so whenever he gave us recommendations with his food, we took it as the word of god hahaha Part of the reason he has the high potency as a temporary food is because of the high protein and fat levels - good for a sick, weaning, converting bird who needs the extra nutrients packed into every bite. Not always a good thing long term. I have heard of some vets, including mine, who recommend high potency for Greys and Ekkies since their dietary needs are more specific and they need the higher levels of nutrients.

The vet who took over his practice, recommended Harrison's and nothing else. No veggies, fruits, etc. So... there are a lot of differing opinions on how to feed the pellets. Just do what you think is best and work with your avian vet to find the best diet for Ava

I'm weary of some vets' advice. My old vet was not an avian vet (although I didn't know this at first) and he was PAID by Harrison's to tell me that it's the only thing you need and it is the best. I do believe Harrison's is excellent, but I definitely don't believe it's the ONLY food a bird needs. As I always say, variety is KEY!

I'll use Harrison's high potency at first and then switch to the maintenance or whatever. I'll follow the directions on the bags.

So this will be your second cockatoo? You might want to add earplugs to the shopping list!
