Vet wrap?

A while back I brought Bowie to the vet and he had a pressure sore on his foot so they gave me vet wrap. The vet said I could buy horse vet wrap for other perches if I wanted to. So I got an unopened roll of horse vet wrap from my friend and I noticed that it was a little stickier and smelled more that the vet wrap the vet gave me. I am probably being too catious because I just assume that anything that smells a little will kill the birds does anyone use horse vet wrap (Co-Flex)? I want to wrap all of my dowel perches, but I am afraid to use horse vet wrap.

I would just suggest for you to chuck the dowel perches and just buy some rope perches or use natural branches.

Was the one's from the vet sealed? I would guess that it was older than the one your friend gave you and more "dried out".

Why do you want to wrap all the dowel perches? I know many people use the wrap around PVC perches, but the wood dowel should be fine--and I would think more sanitary than a vet wrapped one.

I originally had to wrap a branch for Bowie because it was bothering his feet. I do have a rope perch in there for him, but also want to wrap the dowels. I cut down all of the good branches in the woods and even a big branch caused foot problems :/ the wrap the vet gave me was sealed, but it was also a different brand

That's odd, maybe his feet are just more sensitive? If that's the case I wouldn't use any wooden perches then, especially since they can harbour bacteria if not properly cleaned which can also irritate the Bird's skin.

I think I will look around for other perches or I will cover them with fleece
