building cage

my dad is making the lovebirds a cage... i designed it for thier needs and our space issue. it has a divider in the middle so they can still see eachother but not attack eachother (well munch attack mango)

tell me what you think?

I like the dimensions. A well thought out plan. I can't wait to see it finished.

I think it looks great and it's a great idea. When I used to have my lovies I had to separate them but I always let them see each other are they male and female?

daisy, were pretty sure munch is female--shes sooooo aggressive lol. but were getting mango dna tested in may. we're 90% sure munch is female and shes my fiance's bird so he decided not to get her dna tested but mango is mine and i want to know lol so theres a possibility that theyre brother and sister (we know their siblings for sure)

Yeah I had one called Pip and she used to be VERY aggressive towards any bird. Although she did use to copy all of the budgies noises so cute. She was a lutino peach faced lovebird but she still has a green/blue tail

even if theyre the same gender i dont think i can put them in the same cage. munch bullies mango so bad. bites the back of his neck and makes him squeal, bites his feet, bites his beak and they both mount eachother... dunno if thats breeding behaviours or a dominance thing there... theyre only 5 months old and theyre siblings. so im not sure theyre good in the same cage lol though they do cuddle together, preen eachother, play together, eat together... they do everything together out of cage

I assume they're territorial then! But yeah, I hope the cage building goes well!

ya me too. the cages theyre in now are fine... but i wanted bigger for them but because of space reasons we needed a double cage but the double cages were too wide and the stacker cages were too low to the ground and we have cats so the cages need to be put up lol and 2 separate cages would have been too much money. so my dad offered to build it. it suits their needs and space and money needs. we're using aviary mesh, which will be scrubbed with vinegar and water. and to save my dad money we're using untreated pine, though i would have prefered aspen as its a hard wood and would take a LOT longer for them to destroy. but my two arent big wood chewers thankfully. so we'll see how it goes lol

the cages theyre in now:
mango-- 33"tall 18"wide 18"deep
munch-- 30"long 18"tall 18" deep

A quote from Daisy, " ... but this is my 2000th post "
I don't think there are any other prizes, though, Daisy.
