DIY Toys For Large Parrots

Since I'll be getting an african grey soon, I want to know what are some really easy toys to make for him with EXTREMELY common household items to use.
P.S. Apparently he doesn't like to shred.(We'll see about that....hehehe)

Put some treats inside an empty toilet paper tube and tape up the top and bottom. You might need to poke holes in the toilet paper tube at first so he realizes his treats are inside. I saw this at a vet's office - and she used vet tape. I don't know if other tape would be appropriate or not. Vet wrap should work, too.

Roll treats up inside a piece of newspaper, too. You can even braid the rolled newspapers together.

Thanks Shivani for the awesome siggy!

Take any old cardboard box (pudding and jello boxes, pill boxes, etc) and fill it will paper, kleenex, toilet paper and a small bit of seed or other favorite treat.

Most importantly, stuff it infront of the bird, making a huge show and making happy noises. Show him the treats, maybe even give him a small bite... put them in the box, fold it closed, then give it to him, or clip it to the cage, or set it ontop.... and watch.

You may have to poke a hole or two in the box, and make a treat very obvious to see.... but soon he will get excited whenever he sees a box

What great suggestions! I'll be needing a lot of these, too, soon.

Thanks everyone, I put practice golf balls (The wiffle like ones.) in a bowl and that's a big hit! Hate to what would happen if Scully attacked my finger like he does to his balls!
