Cage colors?

Do you folks notice any cage colors that show off certain colors of birds better than others?

We originally had Doug, who is a blue parrotlet, in a grey cage. We could never find him in that cage. We might look in there for a full minute before seeing him. It was very annoying.

He needed a new cage, and Cannary wanted a different color because she likes lots of colors. She picked a tan cage. It is made almost exactly like the first cage, but now we can see him easily.

The predominantly green birds, Roni (senegal), Shira (pineapple green cheek), and Daisy (Maximilian pionus) are easy enough to spot in grey cages, although I've never tried them in anything else. I have always thought I liked the grey because it doesn't show dirt easily.

After realizing what a huge difference there is in how Doug looks in a tan cage verses a grey cage, I wondered if any of you had ideas on cage colors that show off your birds better than others.

Thanks Shivani for the awesome siggy!

I don't know about specific colors, but I do think a lighter colored bird will show up more in a darker colored cage and vice versa. It is kind of like the old color wheel from art class. The colors on the opposite side of the wheel make the other pop. Like green/red, orange/ blue and purple/yellow. But at the same time, you don't want a cage so bright that it pops instead of the bird.

I have 2 grey cages , one black cage and one redish color cage , I really like the light grey and the platnum color the best but sometimes you have to take the color you can get

Deby, I was actually just looking at your thread with your new cages. I hope you don't mind me saying so, sense I am a little confused as to which cage is going to whom, but I think Opey looks beautiful against the dark red cage.

I'm getting Kiki a black cage. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think she looks good in a white cage. Maybe because her feet and beak are black? I don't know. But when I've got enough money, I'm getting her a black HQ. I think I'm getting black for my Grey as well.

I have a brown cage for Ashlynn. I got it because it was on sale. I didn't think I would like the color with her because it is dark and she is a dusty bird, but I actually like the fact that any pooh spots show up easily. I think it really makes it easier to clean. I know that sounds odd, but it is what I have noticed.

I originally had Donny my parrotlet in a black cage. He was miserable and I had no idea why. I tried everything and finally I got him a different cage as a last resort. I got him a white cage this time. Maybe it was coincidence but he moves around a lot more in the white cage and started playing a tiny bit. I can barely see him in the white though since he's yellow. I liked him better in the black. I've got the GCC in the black cage now.

All of my birds are in off white cages (green parrotlet, blue budgie, blue lovie, green budgie, and creamino linnie), and I can see all of them well, except for Starly, the linnie. She is such a soft, light shade of yellow, I can never find her inside her cage! LOL

Tan cage show off the birds colors best, IMO. We had dark green at the pet shop and the birds just blended in. The tan powder coat, generally they call it Sand? that has the colored flakes in it, it looks like, is great. Also hides poop well Now, for thin bars, like for parakeets and such, the darker colors aren't so bad. I have my linnies in a black cage and they stand out just fine (green and pale blue birds). Moose does too, but he's a white bird in a black cage so... kinda hard to miss hehe
