building a cage

well next month we plan on building a divided cage for the lovies we plan on using untreated pine and wire aviary mesh (after washing it with vinegar)

Looks great, I would make the doors as BIG as possible. My new cage has a huge opening, and it makes cleaning, hanging toys, moving stuff around so much easier.

It looks fine to me, we make a lot of our own cages for breeding the budgies in and that looks better than those

Just be careful with the untreated pine. I don't know how to suggest moving it, but I know it's a BIG problem in old barns that the poop soaks into the wood and causes a really foul odour. And untreated wood is really hard to clean, because it takes so long to try if it gets wet... Either try and place pvc around any parts where the wood might get pooped on, or even buy some sort of stick down laminate to cover it with...

Kate,
I didn't realize this was a general thing, but I know that if our birds happen to go potty on any of the toys made with coconuts it stinks to high heaven. Basically the only time their pooh stinks - other than I think the maxi's sometimes does because she is hormonal. Maybe I just won't get any more coconut toys.

Dally,
I like your new cage from your other post, too. Makes like easier, doesnt' it?

Thanks Shivani for the awesome siggy!
