question about bells

munch LOVES bells. but because she was having some trouble with suspected metal poisoning, im paranoid over giving her any unless i know its safe.

a lot of the bells in pet stores, they dont tell you what kind of metal they are. how can you tell if its safe? do you trust pet store bells? we have a few for our chinchillas that were from store bought bird toys...

just wanted some thoughts

Sorry I have no clue... Keep an eye on him and if you suspect it, take him in to the vet!

we've had it suspected for awhile, shes been on a chelation treatment and its improved the droppings as that was what was showing something off. shes fine now, this was before. its suspected the source of lead was the cage she was kept in before we got her. she was kept in a wooden antique cage that was painted, and the paint we suspect contained lead.

similar to this but painted

I bought a Penn Plex PlayGym a while back. I came with a copper colored bell. I have read that they actually contained copper, so it was quickly removed.

i've wondered too. so far other sources are saying no bells for munch because she has a history and also chews bells and metal. so its a no go for her unless i get stainless steel

I haven't a clue. I hope they're safe. None of my birds have bells but they used to love them. They were removed when I was worried about the poisoning

All of my birds have bells in their cages and I've never had any problems. They are bought in petstores and some from a art supply shop. Nik as well as Amy chew on them quiet a bit and so do the budgies.
