Cage Upgrade for the Lovebirds

the single cage they were in was too small for two lovebirds, it was minimum size for one lovebird, so since a new big cage is a little out of the option for our wallets right now, we thought about some ways we can get them a larger cage....

and this was our solution. may not be as pretty as a bought one.... but we took their old single cages, turned them sideways and secured them together in the middle and propped the entire thing on fleece covered wood blocks we had lying around, then we put the trays underneath. its HUGE for them! they like it, i like it.... i just wonder what my fiance is gonna say when he gets home....

it measures now: 44" long 19"deep 19"tall

can you find the lovies? they seem so small in it! they've already been running back and forth, they seem to be loving the extra space, they sure can use it too! lets see how this works out, if it doesnt, its always reversible! i put their perches and swings in it, and i have so much room for lots of things... will have to play around with it when the snow melts, ill get them some more natural wood perches. their climbing net is in the middle, no sleeping tube in this one, i got their fleece fuzzy swing, spiral perch, their home made orbit swing..... im very happy with this 30 minute DIY project

and i will post photos of the birds in the photo section

i just did it today so no clue if shes aggressive in it or not, i havent let them out, i think shes going to lay eggs soon so i cant... shes showing some signs of laying within the next week. because shes clipped, if she falls and she has an egg in her, it can break and kill her. so they are caged for a long while

That's a great idea for more room for them both.
