New cage ordered today....

So Cricket has this wonderful huge cage. But i feel like if you have to look hard in your cage to find the bird that it may be a little big. It is 23 by 34 by 60 some tall. If anyone is close and they want a A and E cage for a larger bird, i am on Craigslist. But after some searching i found a hq cage on Bird's comfort web site. It is a victorian style with a drop down launch pad like the fan cage. It is on a rolling cart. I think that will be much more suitable for him plus be easier to move from one room to another. I wish i new how to post a link i would do it to show you. But when it comes and i get it set up, i will post picks. I am excited to get it. I think Cricket won't mind the down sizing. Plus he is out of his cage so much anyway.

You know what's best for your bird.
I will say though that I think that bigger is always better. More room for toys.

Shelly,
Welcome to my World of cage confusion. Just ask Jo Anne how many cages I've been through. lol Seriously, sometimes it takes time to figure out which cage fits your bird, depending on their preferences and ours...congrats and can't wait to see pics!

Shelly - Can't wait to see pics of Cricket's new cage! As Kristen says, you know your bird better than anyone. I'm sure he'll be happy in his new digs!

My birds are in their cages more than out, so for me, bigger is better. I did find, though, that the A&E Conure Castle had bar spacing that was a little too big for Libby, who's a smaller GCC. It's perfect for Charley, my Hahns Macaw, so it worked out fine. Both Libby and Angelina (Parrotlet) are each in a Marvelous cage -- Kristen bought one first, I saw it and fell in love, so bought two! The Marvelous cages are working out perfectly for them, so I'm set in the cage department.....until Kristen temps me with something!!! LOL!

Shelly, sorry to hear the Conure Castle didn;t work out for you. I guess Maxx will be the only GCC in a Castle now I have Maxx out a lot, and move him into his outside cage when the weather is nice enough. I have never thought the cage to be to big for him.

Joanne did Libby try to get out of the cage? Maxx weighs 65 grams, Isn't Libby a bit bigger?

i do like the cage

I really do like the conure castle it,s just that it is so large and takes up so much room and
when the cupboard is full its pretty heavy and I like to move everything to the kitchen for cleaning. Ido feel like the new cage is a good size for him. I think and iam guessing that the new one is like 17 by by 23 by 30 something. The top opens up to make a perch area
which he would love. Plus the front folds down like a launching pad just like the other one. I debated between this one and one on persnickety parrot I think it was similar to angelinas but I wanted a bigger shelf underneath.( actually it was 3 -2 on foster and smith that were pretty similar then i thought of angelinas cage and checked it out but it wasn't quite right for what i was wanting.) I should be able to use the curtains I made for the first cage to cover the storage area. This will be his 3rd cage. 3rd times a charm right?

Bob - Libby weighs about 74 grams, so I guess she's a little bigger. NO, she NEVER tried to get out of the Conure Castle, and she really seemed to enjoy it. When I got Charley, the bar spacing and guage seemed much more suited for him, and it's worked out great. I do love the cage!

I still had two HQ flight cages at the time, Angelina in one and Libby slept in the other, so I put Libby in it full time. Then I saw Kristen's Marvelous cage and decided to buy two of them and sell the HQ's. The Marvelous cages have a smaller bar spacing and bar guage (than the Conure Castle) and have worked out perfectly for Libby and Angelina. Plus they have a BIG front door -- after I experienced the big door on the Conure Castle, I became unhappy with the two small doors on the HQ cage, so I was off and running toward the Marvelous cages!

But no, I wouldn't worry about the Conure Castle and Maxx, unless you notice him sticking his beak where he could get caught. Libby always has lots of toys to keep her busy, so never tried to escape!

Boy, it's always something, isn't it? We all want the best for our babies!

Shelly - Yes, the Conure Castle is a real heavy-duty cage for sure! I don't move mine around at all, but it would be a pain if I had to!

It's completely up to you what cage you want! I think that he wont mind personally, and he is out a lot anyways. I would love that Conure Castle, my two use every bit of their cage and it's made for Amazons haha!

The computer is still not allowing me to post pics. I like the cage i ordered but the customer service where i bought it really stinks. You can't get any one on the phone and it takes forever to get thru on online chat, and they ignore your questions. I told them about some chips in the plastic tray and some chips in the paint but they don't have any touch up paint and said they would send out a new tray and i have never recieved it. I have the worst luck ordering cages online.

That really sucks! I'd go after them and drill them a new one until the situation was remedied! Demand that you get exactly what you paid for! This kind of thing really annoys me! Grrrrrr........

If the damage was worse or I couldn't use the parts i definately would. Makes me very angry as well. You know bird cages aren't cheap and 40 plus for shipping should get you a decent delivery service. I am sort of choosing my battles lately. Too tired to fight with them. You can bet I will let people know about the customer service though.

I got it from birds comfort. I finally got the new plastic base. They said they would send me a tracking number when it went out but they never did. I guess I can be happy for that much. I'm not sure what was wrong with my computer. I am not very computer savy. It is better since my computer guy fixed it but since i got it back i havent' been able to post pic or send them in an e mail. And I haven't had time after work to sit down and call them to see if it is just a quick fix. Maybe a setting that needs changed.
