Birdy Babble Ball

Does anyone use these? Bought one for Rocky and it arrive today, he loves it but it's really hard to get it to make noise, I literally have to slam my hand against it. Is this normal? I was under the impression they were quite sensitive.

No, that's not normal at all. It may be defective or need a new battery, so since you just bought it, I'd take it back and ask for another one -- make them test it first. A friend of mine just had the same experience with one she bought. She took it back and ask them to test the next one -- they tested all TEN they had in stock and none of them worked!

I bought mine several years ago, for my Parrotlet. She didn't play with it. When I got my GCC, I tried it with her, she didn't play with it either. When I brought Charley, my Hahns Macaw home, I tried it with him. HE LOVES IT!!! It's yakking away right now, as a matter of fact!

It only takes a little tap to make it sound, even tapping the cage will do it. Charley hangs upside down from it and swings like a monkey, so he gets plenty of sound out of it! He's on his THIRD battery since November! (new batteries still cheaper than a new toy) It's really a fun toy, IF your bird likes it!

Good luck!

I had it feeling it may be defective, I bought it online lol, Will send them an email and see what they think, seem to have found a sweet spot on it but I need to hold it at an angle and tap it in a certain place :S Rocky seems to love it already.

Goodness! That's too bad! Shouldn't take any effort at all, just swinging will set it off. Is yours the kind that hangs from a chain? I found that kind to be the best for a bird. There's another one that doesn't have a chain and just rolls around -- not as much fun and gets pooped on!

Maybe it's just the battery, BUT when the battery in mine is dying, the noise just gets quieter and quieter, but not any harder to activate.

Hope you can get things worked out!

Yeah its from a chain.

Some of the noises sound crackly as well which I thought could have been the bat dying even though I only activated it today :/

So far I've made out two cat noises and some birds chirping, some other strange noises I can't figure out.

The sounds are pretty high pitched, and when the battery is new, fairly loud -- Charley LOVES it! It makes a "meow" sound, birds chirping, laughing noises, "here kitty, kitty, kitty" and a bird whistle -- that's what I can make out! It's really "for the birds"!

The one that's not on a chain makes more "objectionable" sounds that you wouldn't want your bird to pick up! LOL!

Charley carries on with it so much that sometimes I take it out for some peace and quiet! As soon as I put it back in, up starts the sounds! He just loves the thing!

I'll look around and see if I can find the cheapest price!

Found this listing on eBay -- seems to be the lowest price I've seen, plus you can click and hear what the ball "says":

Well, they had five available -- I just ordered one, either as a spare for Charley or to try with Libby again. Hope it works!

That's great! I'm hoping Libby (my GCC) will decide to play with it. If not, I'll use it as a spare for Charley (my Hahns). Either way, it'll get used!
