Coloured Newspaper + Cleaning

Currently I only use black and white but I've heard that colour can be okay if they don't eat it.

My cage has a grate a few inches above the paper that prevents the birds from touching it with their beaks so would using coloured newspaper be alright after all?

Also, my baby Green Cheek (Jensen) will be moving in soon, the cage I want to put him in currently houses budgies, what are the best products to scrubs the cage and perches down in? I've read some places that plain vinegar mixed in water works, I need to clean a metal cage as well was plastic bowls, rope and natural wood perches. Any helpful hints.

Thank you guys, because of this forum little Jensen is going to have the perfect home to come to in June.

As long as they can't get to the newspaper, it'd be fine.

I only use apple cider vinegar and hot water to clean my cages. I use it on the perches (wood and the Booda kind, which are the woven thread) for every day cleaning. When it's time for heavy cleaning of the perches, I put them in a hosiery bag (it's kind of a net bag) and put them in the washing machine with some old towels, and then the dryer. If you have a dish washing machine, that would work too.
