Toy made from Cardboard Drink Holder

In an earlier thread, I asked about using egg carton to make challenging toys for an eclectus parrot as well as the rainbow lory I'm petsitting. However after looking on other sites where they used coffee shop drink holders, I decided to make one out of those.

Went to a bird specialty store and bought some toy parts as well as "stole" a few drink holders at my local Starbucks.

Here's the result of my first toy attempt (I think I'll give this one to the lory!) by doing the following:

I took the cardboard drink holder and cut it in half and placed the pieces on top of one another. Then I used woven palm leaf strips and weaved it through the holes. I jammed some bird-safe dyed popsicle sticks for color and stabbed a nickel-plated quick link on a corner so I have something to help it hang in a cage.

Whatcha think? Anything I should be concerned about?

I can't see anything wrong with it! Lory may just pull it apart in seconds though but I guess as long as it's used well that's all that matters

^Yay most of the toys part I bought are the shreddable variety. My friend has enough durable toys for her birds but I think they need more toys they can destroy. I'm not planning to make any toys that are meant to LAST...

(At least these quick links are useful for future projects~!)

Oh definitely shredding toys are the best. Sometimes a bit of scrunched up newspaper with some seeds in the middle is all a bird needs for a bit of entertainment
