New cage!

I bought a smaller cage as I said in my other thread, well I cancelled the order because it did look waaaaaay too tiny. Well I ordered a second one. Not going to lie, it's ENORMOUS! I didn't think it was as big as that at all hahah!

I can't wait to fill it, I've ordered a ton of new perches and all I gotta do now is get the toys in too

It's one of the ferret nation cages, they're really big! But it's awkward because the top one is gunna have to have a layer of paper as I don't want the others pooping on them haha

You're going to have problem if the birds like walking round at the bottom of the cage, they're going to have poop all over their feet and tails; you might be ok with it though, don't let my words worry you, .

Does the middle bit not pull out?

I've been looking for a stacked cage like that but on that has a middle section that pulls out to make one big cage if that makes any sense lol.

You can just unscrew it and make it one big one

Tippa, I change the paper every day so they're not bad at all, they also don't spend much time on the floor either. Not something I'm worried about

So who is going into that cage?? It must be a bigger bird with the larger spacing on it.

That looks great Daisy! I've seen birds kept in FN cages before (like, Cockatiels and such) so I think it'll be great.

We haven't decided who yet but yeah I've seen tiels and stuff very happy in them. I know Casey has hers in them I usually am very careful with spacing but I'll see what I think

I have noticed with my senegal, quaker, and the conures none of them ever tried to put their heads through the cage bars, but the budgies do. So just be careful if you're ever think about putting budgies in there.

Casey puts plastic mesh over the cage when she is gone or not supervising to keep them from having problems with the large bar spacing. So, if you choose small birds to put in there it is a good idea to consider for their safety.

What kinda plastic mesh do you mean? I have some that I use for the aviary so I could pop that on

It's 1/2 inch plastic aviary mesh. If you have the proper spaced mesh (up to 3/4 inch, but preferably 1/2 inch) then that will do to keep smaller birds in it. But in case you do keep small birds in it, it is best to make sure that they can get their heads in and out of the bars (if they can get their heads through). Even with the mesh, keeping small birds in it can be risky.

The smallest bird in them will either be the lovies or Harvey (cockatiel). The lovies have got quite fat heads but I don't think they'd get stuck but of course there is always a possibility. I have some of the plastic mesh and I will definitely have to put some on just in case anyways! I have gotta be really careful as it is, but it's good I'm here nearly 24/7 so I can check on them haha
