Talking Foraging Log

DIY Foraging Log

Silver Maple branch segment, cut to size, baked to disinfect. Debarked.

Holes drilled in, maybe 1cm deep, just deep enough to stuff Zupreem Fruity Cockatiel Pellets inside.

One larger hole drilled through the middle and stuffed with raffia (could use paper or millet as well)

I think they will LOVE it! I plan on making one for Mango tomorrow after work!

It's soooo easy to make, all you need is a bird safe thick branch, a drill, a saw, and an oven. and of course goodies to fill the holes.

AWESOME! You can buy similar foraging toys but they're expensive. Never even gave that a thought

i left it ragged and peeling on purpose too for them to strip off the bits of loose bark lol

it's soooo easy to make too. I do this for perches, any bit of extra branch i have left over from cutting perches... it's so easy to make! flat pine boards can be used for drilling as well.

like this

and to perches like this (i even hollowed out parts of this perch with the drill, mango LOVES it)
