New kestrel [pics]

I recently popped around my uncle's house to check on his birds and make sure they're all doing alright and got some photos of this beauty

Nice isn't she? She's a female Eurasian kestrel and hasn't had the best start in life. He found an ad for her online and got the price as low as he could to get her out of there. He doesn't want to fly her because he thinks it's 'wrong' (because she's such a small bird he thinks she will die in training, not with a more experienced handler she wouldn't) so for now she's just moping around an aviary. She IS flight trained and everything though so it seems a shame. He also doesn't intend on breeding her. If push comes to shove and he DOES rehome her (which he is considering) then I'm going to ask if I can have her. Bandit is a good 3x smaller than her and I handle him just fine. Not to mention I've worked for a display team, training raptors. Not like I don't know what I'm doing. But anyway, this is her for now. Her name escapes me!

What a pretty bird.

Why would she die in training, is it too stressful or would another bird hurt her? Sorry, don't know much about falconry

Thanks all! Kayla, Bandit is my little man and no random girly will change that

Wyrinth, its weight control and as they're much lighter than say a small Harris' hawk they can easily die from just a few g in weight loss

She's beautiful!

And God said, "...let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky." And God saw that it was good.
