Piggy

I have been thinking a lot about one of my mom's dogs who is named Piggy and I thought I would post her picture here as well as her story. My mom woke me up one day and said that there was a little dog on the side of the highway and she wanted me to catch it. We get to the spot where the dog is and it is a 40+ pound dog, lol. I get out of the car and softly call to the dog but she takes off so I start walking back to the car and as I am getting in I look behind me and the dog had followed me so I try to call her over again and I manage to get a leash on her but she freaks out and gets away dragging the leash so I start walking back to the car and she followed me again and let me pick her up. We thought about taking her to the pound but the local pound makes it hard to adopt pit bull types and will try to talk you out of getting one so we figured she did not stand a chance there and we decided to re-home her our self if we could not find the owner but after my dog and my brother's dog died we decided to keep her. She was so scared to leave our yard that she would scream and flop around on the ground like she was being killed when we tried to make her go out the gate but after working with her she now loves to go for walks and will come out the gate on command. Surprisingly she also makes a great guard dog. The whole time she is outside she will run along the fence line and if someone comes in the yard she will run in circles around them barking and growling until one of us tells her to stop and then she will go back to running the fence until we force her to go inside so she won't get a heat stroke. She is the most responsive dog we have ever had and I was able to train her with just the tone of my voice. She is also one of the most loving dogs we have ever had and loves nothing more then to cuddle with anyone who will let her.

Thanks, I think we are the lucky ones to have gotten such a wonderful dog, lol. I think the only thing that would make her better is if we knew what breeds she has in her and if she was not scared of hyper dogs and small dogs.

I don't think there's any question that she's either got some pit or staffie in her. She sounds like a wonderful dog and so cute. You're both very lucky.

What a sweet story! Pits aren't bad dogs at all, I wish the world would open their eyes. Any dog can be considered dangerous in the wrong hands. They get such a bad rep she's beautiful

Thanks, she is definitely some mix of pit bull type breeds and I have been suspecting that she has some American Staffordshire Terrier and maybe some American Bully or maybe even American Bulldog or American Pit Bull Terrier but there has been so much mix breeding of pit bull types around here that you can't tell what breeds they are without a DNA test.
