Curiosity killed the kestrel

This bird is such a pain in the rear end I love him to bits, but it seems he loves me a little too much. I can't go near the aviary, I can't go in the aviary, without being loved up! He's curious about EVERYTHING, especially my phone (mostly because of the Rilakkuma case)

I often have to wear my grandads hat so I don't get a head full of needle sharp little talons (pardon my messy, faded red hair!)

He's coloured up beautifully after his first moult a few months ago. I can't wait to see him next year with his adult plumage!

I got a good video of him the other day. He was biting me and then smacking his beak together like he'd actually eaten some of me! It's a tough relationship we have

Thanks! I'm sorry but this guy is a tiny 120g. He's puny! My Harris hawk has never bitten me intentionally ever and he's as big if not bigger than a macaw

I'm letting out a sigh of relief right now, for half a second I thought he was actually dead! LOL. And then those lovely pictures appeared, and I'm just overwhelmed by the cuteness! Thanks for sharing, Daisy!

I enjoy seeing kestrels in the wild here. I recall rehabbing a wild one many years ago and remember that he liked to yank out hair and bite. Fiesty little guys.
