She's here! [photos]

So tonight I was finally able to pick up my beautiful little gal! Pictures coming right up

Ready to unbox her!

Peekaboo

About to get her out, you can already see how gorgeous she is

That face!

I picked the biggest baby out of the 4 I was shown

So 'new' looking

My favourite photo, she makes a heart!!!

Snakey ring

Isn't she just perfect? I'm so in love with her. She's a female, normal Kenyan sand boa (she looks a bit washed out with the Instagram filters on) and she's about 6 weeks old if I remember correctly. Jack suggested I called her Paprika (what with the orangey red and all) so that is her name I will charge up my DSLR soon and get some good photos of her. She's just so cute! I don't even know what else to say about her haha. I just wanted to share

She's very sassy too! I'm loving her already. I know a few folks who will scream if they see her but she's just as adorable as any furry to me

Thanks Jenny all four hatchlings were completely unique. Two had broken up patterns, like yours and were quite red, one had almost a clean stripe all the way from head to tail but was very pale (not anery or anything, just pale!) and my one was more black than orange The breeder keeps his breeding pair together all year around and they don't constantly breed. Are yours together? Would be nice to have a male too

I would suggest against housing KSBs together. Mike's best friend had 2 Kenyan Sand Boas, a Male and a Female, and one day he went to feed them and he couldn't find the Male in their tank and then he realized that the Female was already nice and fat. She had eaten the Male...

My two have lived together since day 1, but never eat in their tank and never eat together. That way they don't associate food with their enclosure and never bite me, nor eat one another. They're also still the exact same size so it's less likely. I just wanted the one anery female, but the breeder had so many normal males left that he gave me one free! And he's also het for anery, so if I do decide to breed I may get some nice grey babies

Once your KSB are full-grown Jenny I would separate them. Females get quite a bit bigger than Males and I wouldn't want something tragic to happen!

Also, it's just a myth that if you feed a Snake in their enclosure that they will associate you with food. I feed my girl in her enclosure every time and she has never struck at me.

I like to compare housing Snakes together like housing Lovebirds together. You CAN house a Male and Female together and they will probably be fine for a long time but you could also wake up one day to one dead or severely injured bird.
Same with KSB, they could be fine living together for years and years but one day something could change and your Male could be eaten.
