Paprika & Bailey are making life difficult

I could just scream right now!

I went to check on my reptiles before bed last night and clean the water bowls out + top them up with fresh. When I got in there I just wanted to have a quick look at the sand boas. Medusa was in her tub fine and dandy, snuggled under the substrate. Paprika... nope. No Paprika. The top of the tub had a very new crack in it... I didn't think she'd be able to reach that high up but she has. So she's been missing since last night. I'm praying that my cat doesn't find her before I do We've rummaged around the room already but Jack is going to get the underlay (we haven't put the new floor down yet) up and have a look under there and if she's not there then tomorrow we will be getting the floor boards up. Sigh. I'm absolutely heart broken. I wasn't able to have reptiles with a house full of birds and I was slowly coming up to a breeding project. I'd really fallen for Paprika. She absolutely hates my guts. Loves everybody else! But noooo not me. I've heard of people's snakes turning up 6 months after they were originally lost so fingers crossed there MAY still be a chance of finding her. Whether it's by accident or not I'm going to be optimistic but I don't know... I'm just seriously hoping she's okay more than anything

On top of that, Bailey (the puppy) decided that she was going to literally throw herself at Boots (the cat) in an attempt to play and of course, Boots did NOT take lightly to it. She scratched her right on her PUPIL!!! Ergh. I got into the vets as quickly as I could and they did a Fluorescein test only to show what I already suspected. The tiniest, tiniest cut had gotten infected and was ulcerating I have to give her antibiotic eye drops twice a day now for a week and she's got an appointment on Monday 6th January to see how it's getting on. They said if it gets any worse I need to go back immediately because it can get quite bad We will see what happens then though. I will update again when I can. It hasn't cost too much, though I didn't see why on earth I had to pay 26 for a consult when I called them up basically asking for the dye and antibiotics Got to pay for another one on the Monday too! That I don't mind as much, because obviously they're going to be having a good look at it. So far it has come to 41.95 but then I've gotta add the other 26 on the Monday so it will be 67.95. If it gets worse then it will blow up real big! Fingers crossed for Bailey though

Oh, and I'll just add a note here too about Molly (Jack's Staffordshire bull terrier). Over the last few months she has had a lump on her chest. The vets have been iffing and arring about whether or not to be more invasive but so far they've just asked them to measure the lump. Next month I think they're going to take samples. I really hope it isn't cancer. She's been a big part of my life over the last 3 years I can't imagine anything happening to her

Oh Daisy, you are really having bad luck with your pets currently.
Fingers crossed that you find Paprika and the dogs become healthy again.
I know how hard it can be to pay the vet bills.
With my small pension I had to pay 170 Euro for Janosch (green) in October.

Problem is I have literally no income at the moment because of not having a job currently and the government cut my money Luckily I start a new job on the 16th of January though so I'll be out of all of this mess

Thank you very much though

Such bad luck! I KNOW you'll find Paprika eventually. On that KSB group on Facebook I added you to there was someone that posted about finding their baby after about 6 months of the Snake being missing!! He was skinny but still alive!
As for Bailey, that sucks. When we first got Islay she tried to play with one of our Cats and got swatted and my Cats claw broke off and got stuck RIGHT beside the corner of Islay's eye. BARELY missed her actual eye and she bled like a stuck pig!
I'm sure she'll heal up well for you though! Poor pup.

Thanks Kayla! I'm seriously hoping I do come across her. I really want her back. I've been putting so much effort into my scaly babies and I feel so horrible not having her around

Oh definitely! Snakes are resilient though so hopefully she'll eventually turn up. Try all of the tricks that were recommended to you and just keep your eye out for her in the weirdest of places! Also, pay attention to your Dogs and Cat and how they are behaving because sometimes they can give away where the little one is hiding.

My dogs are usually completely oblivious to the reptiles and my cat is CONSTANTLY freaking out but I do hope they help me. And by help me I don't mean Boots eating her

Well she's had last night and today's eye drops. She's not happy! Poor baby. I do feel sorry for her even though she should have known better She can barely open it at times. I think it's a bit stingy. I also think that the antibiotics could be causing it to be a bit sore. If it keeps getting worse though I'll probably take her Monday coming instead of the one after. She cries whenever she knocks it

As for Paprika, no signs still

Ask them for antibiotic ointment for the eye instead of drops (it stays on longer and, because it's like a gel, it protects the lesion better) and an Elizabethan collar so she doesn't bump it. Hope you find your snake soon.

Being winter over there Paprika has probably found some nice warm spot to curl up and hybernate. So I would check all the places where she could keep warm.

It comes out like a thick gel, don't know why I said drops

That's what we've been doing. You'd of thought she'd of gone to the other enclosures for the heat off the mats and lamps but she hasn't

Bailey's eye is looking fab now, no signs of any lasting damage at the moment. I've got to take her back to the vets next week for a check up but other than that it seems to have healed very well

Again, no signs what so ever of Paprika. I thought feeding night would have bought her out of her hiding place. I'm still thinking that my cat may have had her But at the same time, I'm doubting it as if she had she wouldn't eat her. She would probably dump her somewhere for me to see and look very proud of herself. I really just want to find her soon. At home snake wise I've got Theodore and Frank at the moment, Caesar is at Jack's parents still because his sister won't give him up to me (even though she's not bothered with him since she had him years ago, I even bought him a new mat!)

Reptiles usually get lost for a few months at a time. I've known one person (and heard of others) that lost their lizards and gave up looking, only to have them show up a few months later. Don't give up hope.
