Critter Update

Thought I'd do a bit of an update on my critters. I am missing photos of Bubblegum but she isn't doing so hot right now.

Oreo is doing great and is getting big! Him and Isis are about 8 months old now and I can't wait until they can be paired up to give me pretty babies!

Gaia is hugely fat right now and has slowed her eating so I think she's going on a hunger strike again. (last year she stopped eating for 5 months although she only lost 6 grams)

Horrible photo but Isis is getting big too! She gets prettier and prettier as she grows... lovely girl! I wish I could capture the true colour of her eyes.. they are blood red!

Mara is doing ok... she hasn't eaten in over a month. I got her a smaller mouse and am hoping she'll take it tonight! I worry about her because she is apparently 1.5 years old and is not much bigger than most KSBs half her age...

ENYA... oh Enya. She is a COMPLETE spaz... like big time! ANY time I go near her enclosure she runs over searching for food. Any time my fingers go in her enclosure she BITES me! Thankfully it doesn't really hurt and once she is out of her enclosure she is a sweetheart. She just has a crazy prey drive!

Bracken is getting big! He has more than doubled in size since I got him in December. He is still a complete brat and does not like me at all yet. I am working on him though! Super happy though because he eats his greens very well for me.

Kitties Peata and Leeroy are doing well too! Peata (grey) will be 5 years old in the summer, Leeroy will be 2 years old in the summer.

And last but not least (but without a photo) is Bubblegum. She hasn't really been eating lately (I THINK she has been taking a few Crickets the past few weeks but not sure...) and has lost quite a bit of weight. I am hoping it's just the time of year and that she isn't sick.

Oh no, I hope that Bubblegum feels better.

I really want a gecko like Enya, she is too cute. Are they hard to care for?

I think she is doing better, which is good. She has been a lot more active which is good and seems to be looking for food. I think she may have been trying to brumate before (like hibernating but for Reptiles, ha)

And she sure is cute! Crested Geckos are actually really, really easy to care for. They only need a very small enclosure when hatchlings/babies and when they are full grown/adults they need an 18"x18"x24" tall enclosure. They don't need any heat source like most Reptiles do as long as the room they are in stays in the 70's (so basically room temp). They need higher humidity but that is easy as they just get misted with a spray bottle twice a day. Oh, and they don't need to eat bugs They just eat a meal replacement powder that you mix with water!

Awh I'm in love with everybody! STOP MAKING ME JEALOUS I can't get over how big Bracken has gotten. Hershel has pretty much done the exact same. Only difference is I can't get him away from me. He really likes me As for Mara, she is really puny! I didn't know she was that old, I thought she was a youngster. The fully grown adults I've seen have been like my forearm

Hahahaha, sorry Daisy.
I hope Bracken starts to like me soon! It makes me sad, hahaha.
And I know! I am thinking that she's actually Male and will just stay small, or for some reason she just isn't growing. Her previous owner told me she was a 2012 hatchling and he could have gotten that wrong, or he was under feeding her. Not sure!

Have you looked into sexing them? It's really easy, and she could be a guy!

I posted on that Sand Boa group of Facebook before and was told to take a picture of her vent area and was told Female, but nothing other than that.

That's awesome. I hated the crickets when I had reptiles (anoles....a long, long time ago when I was a teenager). The heat thing is actually a problem, it sometimes gets as low as 52 F in the winter when everyone is out of the house (conserving energy, money, etc), but there should be heaters like they have for fishtanks right? Maybe when my kids are a little older, they could get a pet, you know, to help them learn responsibility.......

If it gets that cold you can just use a heat lamp with a low wattage bulb to keep them warm.
