Unhappy Toby gave us a real scare

I haven't been able to get on much recently to make my own threads as I am smack in the middle of a house move (yay!) and working a ton of hours too so I never got around to posting about this

Toby, Bailey's brother, went missing on 18/7 and I was absolutely mortified. He bolted for the front door after seeing a fox and everybody went on an enormous search for him. I contacted rescues, dog wardens, the RSPCA, various online organizations to help reunite dogs/pets, made ads on preloved and gumtree, posted EVERYWHERE on Facebook etc. I tried just about everything

I did not get a wink of a sleep. I had such an awful headache the next day and I had to go to work. I got to work and just burst into tears so my boss told me to go home and carry on with the search as she knew I wouldn't be able to work well in the state I was in

As I walked through my front door I heard Jack on the phone. He sounded like he was going to blub. I thought no no no no, he's been hit by a car, or something. But I freaked out and started asking what was happening and who he was talking to and he told me it was the dog warden and she has got Toby. She managed to bring him over within 5 minutes

We didn't know who took him in at first but word of mouth in the area helped us find them so we could thank them. We got them chocolate, flowers and a card.

Toby is the only dog not wearing a tag (well he has one now!!!) so without getting him scanned for his chip they couldn't get him back to us quickly but they called the warden first thing and she scanned him for it then

Let this just be a reminder to microchip your pets! It is dirt cheap and for the sake of getting your pet home it is worth it!

Oh, he's fine by the way. I wasn't... but he was great. Just very excited to see everybody

Oh my Daisy... Never a dull moment for you is there? So so happy it all ended well! I once lost a little poodle mix dog... He was old and deaf... My son let him off leash during a walk in the woods by our house and didn't watch him closely... Of course he wandered off and then couldn't hear us calling. He was missing for about 3-4 days and I was fearing the worst. Then I heard an ad on the radio about a found small dog that fit his description... Turns out he wandered about 5 miles down the road. This elderly couple had 3 small dogs, they put them out to potty one night and 4 dogs came back in... Our little one was smart enough to find a dog friendly family...lol

It wasn't easy, we searched for hours but it is thick brush in that area and calling didn't work cuz he was deaf... I was so upset thinking he was hurt, hit by a car and laying in the ditch or ripped up by coyotes... The couple that found him just let him make himself at home with their friendly little pooches. I went to pick him up and there he was snuggled on the couch with them. Little stinker was probably sorry to go home...lol

So glad Toby is home again!
And you found a new house? That means you can start keeping parrots inside soon?

Yeah I'm moving in on the 1st of September I've actually decided not to have birds indoors again I'm afraid. It's too risky. I have two sheds that I'm converting into aviaries and at least 2 places off the top of my head where I can also stick aviaries so at least I can still bring over some of my birds (split the budgie flock, there's 46 of them!). I prefer them being outdoors. Although you have the weather issues and such, you don't have potential fumes and other harmful indoor stuff. You can also provide them with a ton more room than a cage would have. I'm excited to get started! I can finally have my chickens!
