Hand Painted Easter Eggs 2016

Every year a family member gets the nieces/nephews and grand brats together to create some easter eggs.

This year it was my Aunt and my turn to entertain the brats and make a colorful mess.

Some of the eggs turned out pretty nice, some of them were FUGLY!

Excuse the blurry photos

The ink markers and sharpies didn't do well with the lacquer finish we wanted to use.

Bleeding ink made for some interesting and fugly eggs

Last year another aunt and cousin asked all the kids to go and do eggs at their house, they used the old hot wax Ukrainian method with pots of colored dyes. It was a huge disaster with spilled dye everywhere a bunch of burned fingers and a pile of eggs that looked like they were colored in poop water.

Check out pysanky eggs on google images and you can see why its not exactly for kids.

This year it was ink markers and various types of paints for our medium. It was good.

I do not see a single fugly egg either! Those are really cool. I've never done anything like that!

I don't have the realllllllly ugly ones here anymore as the proud creators of such love crafted disasters took them home a few days back so they can give them to moms and dads tomorrow.

Trust me, they was fugly's! Imagine 20 different colors of paint blobbed on eggs, but then they'd get impatient waiting for the paint to dry so they would just add more paint which meant you had patches of bald egg and streaks of color that didn't cover much.

Then they had to add huge globs of glitter paint laid over top of all the paint and lets not forget the neon paints which of course they loved....... the neon made the acrylic paint crack and break which was a great disappointment for a few of them.

The best laugh for me was when I got to watch little unsteady hands try to outline details on the eggs with a black sharpie.

Mini Picasso's! As long as they had fun it didn't matter what the eggs looked like in the end.

Next year I will make eggs with them again but I will get tattoo stickers and colored print tape and stickers. It will be easier on the younger kids and they might have more fun being creative with that instead.
