Question Color change in Pied Cockatiel

Hello, my 3 year old male Cockaiel, Chancey is a Pied, White, with Gray wings. He has always had one Yellow feather in his tail. Recently, I see most of his
tail feathers are a soft, pastel yellow, and I am seeing his main flight feathers are a pale Yellow. I've heard that Liver disease and Kidney problems can make a bird turn yellow. Also, I've heard that mating season, birds colors increase. I have had blood work done, nothing was noted about these diseases. Just wondering, has anyone else had their cockatiels feathers turn more yellow?
He seems quite healthy, interested in everything!

Thank You

Ok, that's her natural color. My Cockatiel has gradually changed, getting some yellow on his belly and chest too. I'ts lovely, just want to be sure it's not caused by a health problem. Will ask the Vet about it. Thank you for your info.

That's normal for a pied cockatiel. There are different types of pieds--light and heavy.

Light pieds can have as little as one clear flight or tail feathers. While heavy pieds have much more yellow shown. It's completely normal.

Can you post a picture of him?

You can read more about pieds here: http://www.justcockatiels.net/pied.html

h, thank you so much for the information! The site you gave me was so helpful, I saw a picture of a bird that looks exactly like mine. I will post a picture, need to take one showing the Yellow on his back side tail. I will still have him checked by vet, but feel much better now. One question. Does it take this much time for a Male, Pied, to come into full coloration? He is 3 years old, and has been through several molts. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge.

Here is my Chancey. The feathers that are yellow were mostly white the first couple of years.

My cinnamon pied cock bird is quite yellow throughout. A bird with fatty liver disease is quite easy to spot in my opinion Sounds like his natural appearance!

Uh your so lucky you have such a pretty colored boy. I have always wanted that exact coloration for a pied. They are common here but I have not yet found one with that gorgeous marking. Hopefully my birds will bring pied babies next year.

Yes, that coloration is 100% normal. Your bird is almost a saddle back. He is definitely a heavy pied.
