Hello,
My name is Patti and I live on Long Island in New York. I breed Lady Gouldian finches. I also have a lineolated parakeet, a lovebird and a budgie. I want to get a mustache parakeet and I am hoping that someone can direct me to a breeder on Long Island or close by. Thank you!
:welcome: to the forum! I don't know of any breeders for mustaches in your area, unfortunately, but they are beautiful sweet birds! We'd love to see photos of the birds you have
Welcome to the forums!! You'll find lots of information and lots of helpful people here. We'd love to see some pictures of your birds! Gouldian Finches are beautiful!
Hi everybody..thank you for all the welcome's. I'm sorry I haven't been back on here for a little while. So much has changed! I sold all my gouldians. They were beautiful, but extremely messy and with all the supplements I gave them, they cost me a fortune! I ended up buying a 2 year old mustache parakeet. I thought I researched them well, but I was very misinformed. He is tame, but doesn't actually like people too much. He likes his play stand and his toys. He is louder than I anticipated. It's not a constant squawk, but it's loud enough to be bothersome when my husband is on the business phone. He also squawks when anyone leaves the room. My daughter (she's 11) cannot touch him. I've decided that this is not the family bird I anticipated. I've re-homed him to a wonderful woman who lives alone and has 2 other birds. He's going tomorrow. I got a beautiful yellow sided green cheek conure who is everything I wanted. My daughter can take him out and play with him....he doesn't bite at all....he falls asleep in our hands. We love him.
I also have a love bird and a linnie. I look forward to chatting with you all. Thank you for the warm welcome!
Well welcome back! I'm sorry to hear you sold you gouldians and that you moustache parakeet wasn't quite what you though he would be but I'm very happy that you got a bird you're compatible with!
welcome to the forum. I kept gouldians for a little while too. Glad to know you rehomed him well
